弗兰克·奥兹， 1944年05月25日出生于英格兰，导演、演员。12岁时随家迁居美国，后入读奥克兰大学新闻系。1976年开始与吉姆．汉森合作多部电视木偶戏，得到观众的热烈欢迎，陆续荣获三次艾美奖。1979年主演了电影《木偶电影》，以后在他升任导演期间也曾演过几部影片，如《龙虎双霸天》、《星球大战2： 克隆人战争》等。1983年与汉森联合导演了木偶电影《魔水晶》，开始踏入导演之门。他的导演作品大都走喜剧路线，如《骗心大少》，《天生一对宝》、《大制骗家》等。2001年执导了犯罪动作片《大买卖》，拥有马龙．白兰度等几位巨星的强大演员阵容。

作为一个电影导演，他导演了包括1986的《恐怖小商店》，1991的喜剧《鲍勃呢？》和《又脏又臭的恶棍》。他也是在星球大战系列电影的木偶尤达的配音。现年71岁。

Oz是出世在英格兰的赫里福郡，弗朗西丝的儿子。他的父母搬到英国后，纳粹的战斗与荷兰旅。父亲是犹太人，他的母亲是个离经叛道的天主教徒。Oz在他五岁时和父母搬到了美国加利福尼亚的奥克兰。他曾就读于奥克兰高等技术学校、奥克兰城市学院。蕾蒂康奈尔是他的导师。
